GALLAGHER, Ph.D.,M.Ac.,EMT-P

John Paul coaches individuals to improve their health and well-being.  Inspired by Qigong’s and Tai Chi Chuan’s restoration of his health, John Paul has dedicated his life to continuing his study, practice, and teaching of these internal arts.

John Paul is a Qigong Practitioner, he has trained extensively under well known Qigong and Tai Chi Masters to increase his energy. He also studied Classical Acupuncture and obtained his Masters of Acupuncture degree from the Academy of Five Element Acupuncture, and also studied Traditional Chinese Medicine - Acupuncture / Herbs / Massage / Nutrition.

John Paul began his career in healthcare working as an EMT / Paramedic.  He was very active as a volunteer at the local fire station and rescue squad, teaching numerous classes to first responders, and also worked in Emergency Departments.  He has a B.S, M.S., and Ph.D. in Industrial & System Engineering from Virginia Tech.

Since 2004, John Paul has been studying the eastern arts, the philosophical basis of which includes focusing on the principle – Take Kindness and Benevolence as Basis.

John Paul began his Qigong training at the Academy for Five Element Acupuncture and then continued his training at the Internal Arts Institute - Gin Soon Chu Tai Chi Chuan Federation, and the Pangu Shengong International Research Institute.

John Paul’s interest in Qigong, Tai Chi Chuan, and Acupuncture developed from his personal success utilizing these modalities.  He first realized the benefits of qigong after surgery and physical therapy did not resolve a sports related knee injury, however, qigong brought immediate relief after only one treatment.  Subsequently, he utilized these modalities to help resolve a significant case of colitis (inflammation of the digestive tract).  And, he was extremely fortunate to have an open minded orthopedic physician who, after limited success with traditional orthopedic treatments and physical therapy, referred him to a Qigong / Tai Chi Chuan practitioner to resolve  sciatica pain from a motor vehicle accident. Inspired by the success realized from working with these excellent Qigong, Tai Chi Chuan, and Acupuncture practitioners, he became a student of these disciplines and in subsequent years a Qigong practitioner.

John Paul continues his training on a daily basis to align both the energy and physical structure of the body.  These life-changing experiences reinforced his awareness of the need for balance on the physical, mental, emotional, and spirit levels.

John Paul’s desire is to support his clients in achieving a level of wellness that creates a greater sense of ease and vitality in their lives.  He has personally witnessed and experienced the profound and transformative power of Qigong and is excited to offer these opportunities to others.

John Paul’s unique background with patient care in both western and eastern settings, hospital operational experience, industrial and systems engineering, teacher, personal coach, and executive coach allows him to successfully assist individuals with methods to integrate the knowledge gained from thousands of years of practitioners continuously refining and developing their understanding of the principles of eastern internal arts with recent technological breakthroughs allowing for the current western medicine approach to diagnosing and treating illness.
